Integrating care and empowering individuals affected by mental illness
Individuals with a serious mental illness (i.e., schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, or major depressive disorder) die an average of 25 years earlier than members of the general population. An emerging approach for addressing this disparity involves integrating primary care services into existing mental health systems; but much remains unknown about the most useful or effective methods for doing so.
I-IMR is designed to build on the effectiveness of E-IMR training while incorporating primary care for physical illness. Integrating care for mental and physical health can improve outcomes and overall quality of life for those affected by serious mental illnesses.
