MNCAMH derives its mission, and many of its staff, from three complementary academic and professional units within the University of Minnesota:
The School of Social Work is an integral part of a world-class research university. The academic programs are unique in Minnesota, preparing a diverse student body to be research-savvy professionals and scholars, and providing research and engagement with a local-to-global impact.
The Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) is the premiere source of child welfare information and training in Minnesota. With the MN Department of Human Services and other public child welfare agencies, CASCW identifies, assesses, and distributes effective practice information to assist child welfare workers.
The Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) and the Minnesota Center for Chemical and Mental Health (MNCAMH) engaged in a collaborative partnership to bring to child welfare workers the most recent research and evidence-based practices to assist in the treatment and support for recovery from co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders.
